About
This is the personal blog for Neil A. Wilson.
Until recently, I was employed by Sun Microsystems as a directory services engineer. I was a founder for the OpenDS Directory Service project and served as the project architect and was the lead developer. I was also heavily involved with Sun’s commercial Directory Server Enterprise Edition product, including working with the code, analyzing performance, talking to customers, and making otherwise working to improve the product. During this time, I also created the SLAMD Distributed Load Generation Engine, which can be used for benchmarking LDAP directory servers and other network applications.
Before I joined Sun, I worked at Netscape Communications on the Netscape side of the iPlanet e-Commerce Alliance as a technical support engineer for the Netscape and iPlanet Directory Server products. Prior to that, I worked as a directory server administrator at TidePoint Corporation, and before that I served as a Web and directory server administrator at Caterpillar, Inc.
I really enjoy writing code and keeping up with technology, so I don’t have a lot of free time because I spend most of it working. But I am a pretty frequent moviegoer, and enjoy watching sports (especially the St. Louis Cardinals), and other television.
Hi Neil,
Really sorry to hear about how things turned out for you with Sun. I remember working with you back in the iPlanet days and you were extremely helpful. I’m sure you’ll find something new to engage your interests before too long — but do take some time for yourself during this period, it’s definitely worth it.
Best regards,
-Kartik
Neil,
It was indeed shocking and sad to hear about you and you group. Since I did work with you in support, when you were in sustaining working with Mark. I know the efforts you have put in last several years to rise up the level u were at..
I feel that its great loss for sun to loose an engineer like you.
